What I Learned This Week in Active Rain-August 5-August 11, 2012

I learn something new every day at ActiveRain! ?With this series I try to highlight one post per day that gave me that ?lightbulb? moment. ?It could be something techie, about Real Estate, about a place or person!

August 5: Margaret Rome ?A Lesson In Conversation...But We Didn?t Have the Green Thing.
While reading Margaret?s post I kept doing that ?pumping thing? with my right arm and fist and saying ?Yes... you go girl.? ?While I often lament what ?man? has done to some things in nature creating a situation that we all must fix, Margaret gave me the ?ah-ha? moment because back then (yes, I AM that old) we didn?t walk around with plastic bottles filled with water and while we didn?t have a ?green? grocery bag, we did not toss out plastic bags either. And, oh BTW, we also did not build buildings (or sports stadiums!) only to tear them down a few years later so that we could build posh suites for mega paying corporations thereby making it almost impossible for the regular sports fan to attend a game unless they were willing to sit close to the clouds. ?Whew.. Thank you Margaret.. I needed that!

We?re accustomed to reading about houses and their structures and what?s involved in home inspections from Charles but he shows us in this post that walls and gates aren?t always just about structures.

Gene made me stop and think about all of those calls we get from our local posts... the ones who want to know if they can bring their dog to the orchid show, or their skin cream came in yet. ?Do we, without being obnoxious, try to turn the call into a possible ?selling? moment? ?And what about our posts... is the contact information on our posts so everyone can see it. ?I?ve seen something in the signature lines of some posts that I may add.... something along the lines of ?this information being brought to you as a service to ?.?

???Oh yes... good ole spam, but it never occurred to me to check out my older posts to see if any spam comments had been left there. And even though you wrote them months or years ago, they can still be seen by the public.

August 8: ??Scott Godzyk ???Can I Rent to Own that Bank Foreclosure
I?m not a Realtor so ?I had not heard of ???rent to own? in ages and it never occurred to me that someone would think about renting a bank foreclosure. ?Read Scott?s response.

Mike has written a very thought provoking post regarding this housing depression that we?ve been in. ?There is much talk of multiple offers, home being sold at, near or even over List Price. ??And depending up where you live things are beginning to look up. ?Mike?s post gave my lightbulb moment a thump ( you know how it is when a lightbulb flickers and needs a tap) . ?

This Social Media stuff is fun and time consuming but if you?re going to be ?in it? why not maximize your efforts there. ?Tyler has written some easy to follow information on how to Google+ more effectively.

August 11: ?Lynn Pineda ??The Joy Of Pinterest ???Steps on How to Do It.
I wrote a post this week about Pin Reach and have been trying to organize my Boards. ?In the last several months I?ve seen here and on other sites that recommended the Boards for Realtors. ?I had a hard time figuring out just how a Realtor could use this for their listings. ?I went to Lynn?s boards and was blown away. ?If you?re wondering ?What to I put on these things and how can it relate to Real Estate??... just go to Lynn?s Boards on Pinterest. ?
