Fantastic Friday Feature: About a Bugg - Home Made Parties

Hello all, I hope your Friday is truly fantastic. It is my absolute pleasure to feature a blog interview with a very creative, articulate, intelligent, generous, witty, honest and funny member of the online ?bloggy? community ? Renee from About a Bugg.

?

Renee, tell us a little about yourself and your business/blog?

My blog is all about sharing our ups and downs, our lessons and life with our 7-year-old daughter, who has Aspergers.?In writing my blog, I hope to offer support, connection and information for others living a similar life.

Throw in some working mum rants, a bit of photography love, try hard baking and maybe some random thoughts and I hope that people find my blog an enjoyable place to drop by!

?

What did you do before embarking on your adventure with About A Bugg?

My background is in communications, marketing and events.?Most recently, I was a partner in a boutique events business and since leaving that in late 2011, I have returned to the corporate marketing and communications world.

It?s a juggle between work and home, but I am fortunate enough to be able to work part time allowing me to spend time with Poss, our daughter, writing and doing things I love, as well as working a job that I find fulfilling.

?

What was the main force in your decision to take the plunge and launch your blog?

The simple fact that I longed for support and understanding when Poss was first diagnosed and I struggled to find it online.

I guess I hoped to build a space for me to write and share our journey with others who might be going through a similar thing.

?

What?s been the best bit about your blog/business so far??

Without a doubt the people I have met through my blog, many of who have crossed over into real life friends.

?

What are some of the challenges you?ve had to over come?

?I think all bloggers struggle with how much to share of their lives to maintain authenticity in their writing, but to still protect those around them. I am conscious that there are stories I want to share, but they aren?t mine to do so and that can be a struggle sometimes.

Also, of course there are privacy issues, especially as I blog so much about our family. We made some decisions as a family early on to not use Poss? real name, but we do use pictures of her. It?s a compromise that we feel comfortable with.

?

Where do you see your blog/business heading in the future?

I am really looking forward to my little community of readers growing and our continual interaction makes me happy!

I have also recently become one of the contributing editors to another blog, Autism: In our own words, where the five of us share our stories from the spectrum.?This has been an amazing experience and I can?t wait to see where it leads.

?

List your creative influences and sources of inspiration for what you do.?

Many things inspire me; I read a lot of blogs, both from my old ?party world? as well as personal, technology and lifestyle bloggers. There are some amazing writers out there, who I look forward to reading each day.

I also collaborate with some amazing women; they are clever, resilient, strong and savvy. They are a constant source of inspiration to me.

?

What is your favourite colour?

I love blue ? all shades of it.

?

What is the one food you just can?t live without?

Dumplings. I love dumplings.

?

If you had more free time, what would you love to do with it?

I would probably write more. Maybe some more study? I really don?t know ? the concept is so foreign to me!

?

Finally, what are five words you would use to describe yourself?

Organised, curious, determined, loyal and online.

?

(Don?t you just love the five words!!!! It?s pretty tricky to define yourself in five words.)

When I started this blog I knew I wanted to continue to get to know and feature fellow bloggers and/or business mummies who?all have something to say, but more importantly are just great women, and who, like most of us are trying to juggle work, online commitments and raising a family, all while looking fabulous and throwing amazing parties for others (OK that last part is soooo not true). Seriously though, many people know someone raising a child diagnosed as being ?On the Spectrum?, and if you haven?t ? it?s only a matter of time until you do. So to Renee, and your family, I say thank you for being all that you are in the online world, thank you for blogging and thank you especially for taking part in this blog interview.

Oh and friends, so do pop on over and visit About a Bugg and remember to like the Facebook page too.

Until next time,

Jane Saxton
